£2,000 is up for grabs for Bracknell residents looking to cycle more this month.

Cycle September has returned in a bid to get Bracknell residents to travel more sustainably.

The initiative, run by Love to Ride and supported by Bracknell Forest Council, aims to get people cycling for better health and a better impact on the environment.

This year’s challenge asks cyclists to log their trips taken by bike, which will accumulate points throughout the month. The more points earned, the more entries an individual will have into a prize draw of £2,000.

As well as this, the first ever Bracknell Cycling Festival will be held on Saturday, September 14, and will include a stunt display by Fusion Extreme, mountain biking coaching, and learn-to-ride sessions.

Cycling and community, as well as food and drink stalls, will also be at the event.

It will take place in Bond Square in Bracknell town centre.

Neil Mathews, Assistant Director for Highways and Transport, said: “At a time when we’re all striving to make more sustainable choices, cycling offers a perfect solution. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, save money on fuel, or do your bit for the environment, Cycle September is a fantastic opportunity to get involved.”

He encouraged Bracknell residents to join a ‘community of cyclists who are passionate about making a positive change’ and reassured that people of any skill level can take part.
