An initiative encouraging residents and workers to cycle to better their health, help the environment, and win prizes is back this month - while a cycle festival will make its debut.

Cycle September, organised by Love to Ride and supported by Bracknell Forest Council, challenges people to log how many trips they make using a bicycle.

Points accumulated by logging trips can be used to enter into a prize draw worth £2,000, with more points meaning more entries into the draw.

The inaugural Bracknell Cycling Festival, set to take place on Saturday, September 14 from 11am to 4pm, will provide another opportunity to celebrate the two-wheeled this month.

Hosted by Trek Bracknell, Avanti Cycling, The Lexicon, and Bracknell Forest Council, the event promises stunt displays, mountain bike coaching, learn-to-ride sessions, instructor-led rides, cycling and community stalls, and food and drink.

The festival will be hosted in Bond Square, between Marks & Spencer and Waitrose.

Neil Mathews, assistant director for highways and transport, said: "At a time when we're all striving to make more sustainable choices, cycling offers a perfect solution.

"Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, save money on fuel, or do your bit for the environment, Cycle September is a fantastic opportunity to get involved.

"By logging your rides with Love to Ride, you join a community of cyclists who are passionate about making a positive change.

"Plus, you might just win one of the incredible prizes on offer.

"It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned cyclist or dusting off your bike for the first time in years – you can do it."
