The Thames Valley Police Roads Policing Facebook account has shared a post regarding a car whose black box, the force claimed, had been modified.
The post, shared on August 30, included a caption which closed out with a number of hashtags including #Seized, #OpTutelage, and #Cleverbox, and read: "If your vehicle is fitted with a black box, it's best you don't tamper [sic] or remove it otherwise the insurance company will invalidate your policy...
"This car has been driving around since April with no insurance."
The accompanying photo showed a police car parked at right angles to a red Jaguar XF in a carpark.
Of the commenters, Luke Wood said: "People wouldn’t try their luck with it all if insurance was tighter regulated, held to account and actually a reasonable price for the cover you received."
Chris Bellamacina opined: "Done well then, no accidents during that time, just you lot with nothing better to do."
And Shadrach Dingle had this to say: "Insurance companies are consistent [sic].
"They sell you an umbrella but want it back dry and unused.
"All a bit one-sided."
