A Bracknell school is being celebrated for its commitment to eco-friendly travel.
Kings Academy Easthampstead Park School recently won the Eco Rewards most improved school award for the 2023-24 academic year.
Eco rewards offers incentives for schools, businesses and communities to encourage greener travel and healthy lifestyle options.
Kings Academy logged a total 3,066 green miles over the academic year, with the highest participation rate across the borough.
The sustainable travel to and from school saved 951kg of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions compared to driving.
Eco Rewards first met with students from the school in 2020, where the children provided feedback ‘instrumental’ in establishing the scheme.
Bracknell Forest Council leader Mary Temperton presented the award to students and said she was delighted’ to give the ‘well-deserved’ accolade.
Collectively, participants of Eco Rewards could save hundreds of thousands of pounds a year on fuel, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by thousands of tonnes.
