Berkshire residents have been alerted to a scam circulating on social media about the upcoming Wokingham Christmas fair.
A Facebook post, posted by a member of a local community group stated: “We are hosting our third Christmas fayre at The Market Place, Wokingham, RG40 1, United Kingdom.
“We are on the lookout for Christmas décor, plants/florists, handmade skincare, candles, clothing, jewellery, resin, cakes, woodcrafts, food/drinks and more!
“£29.00 a stall for a day inside, tables and chairs etc provided.
“If that sounds like you – please get in touch.”
Wokingham town council has warned interested parties saying, ‘please do not hand over any money’.
They added: “Unfortunately scams such as these are becoming more common.
"Please always check out the individual claiming to organise an event or offering a service before parting with any money.
“It's always worth commenting on a post if you find something is a scam to alert others and contacting the admin team if it is posted on a group/page.”
