Fresh plans to improve an outdoor seating area at a high street cafe have been approved.
Fego Caffe on The Hermitage at Ascot High Street wants to upgrade its outdoor seating as it expands into the Dessange hairdressers next door.
Plans submitted to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead say the expansion fits in with wider hopes for a regeneration of Ascot town centre.
The plans say: “Fego Caffe is an independent business which is very much part of the local community and relies on frequent visits and trade from this community.”
They add that it is located in area that the council hopes will become ‘a new centre and create vibrant day and night time economy primarily with small/independent shops, café/ restaurants, community uses and civic buildings’.
The cafe brought in outdoor seating on an ‘ad-hoc’ basis during the pandemic, but now wants to make this permanent.
Plans to install raised decking, bollards and planters were already approved by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in July this year.
The newly approved plans are for the installation of five picnic benches. Plans say these will ‘provide additional needed space for customers which will allow them to enjoy sitting outside whilst significantly improving the frontage of the restaurant’.
