A much-loved resident at a retirement community has celebrated his 100th birthday.
John Cooper, who has been living at McCarthy Stone Birch Place in Crowthorne, marked the milestone surrounded by nearly 100 family and friends.
Mr Cooper, who is originally from Norfolk, had spent 10 years as an RAF pilot during World War II.
He continued to fly for the next 70 years with his private pilot’s licence.
Celebrating his centenary, Mr Cooper said: "I’m thrilled to be turning 100 – I can’t believe I made it!"
Mr Cooper, who has 'lost count' of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was married to his wife Frances for 68 years.
Mr Cooper gave advice for the younger generation, said: "If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well. Always try your best and marry the right person!"
