A debut author has released her first book to help pet owners through the painful process of saying goodbye.
Donna Wills, an award-winning animal physiotherapist and veterinary nurse, began the launch of her book, 'The Best Goodbye,' on October 5.
Ms Wills, who set up her company Animal Physiotherapy Ltd in Bracknell, 19 years ago, decided to write her memoir after feeling the grief of losing her pet dog, Logan.
Ms Wills launched her book from the flagship store, Pets Corner, Ascot.
She said: "Logan was the most important being in my life for nearly half of my life.
"He stood by me through break-ups and make-ups, heartache and love.
"When I lost him, I was devastated."
Two years after losing her pet, Ms Wills said she was 'triggered' to write her book after a memory of him was brought back to her.
She said: "I was taken back to that cold January evening when we had to say goodbye.
"I shed a tear. I then told myself off and to pull myself together. I can't be crying two years later. Then I told myself off again.
"Why can’t I be crying now? I loved him 16 years. I have lost him only two. If I felt like this, you can bet other people do too."
She added: "We need to talk more about grief and pet loss. Not feeling alone can help everyone."
Ms Wills aims for her book to help others who are battling with grief after loosing a pet.
