A tree-planting ceremony was organised to commemorate the 80th year of the anniversary of D-day.
With autumn being the perfect time to celebrate the event two beautiful native Mountain Ash trees have been planted.
Winkfield Parish Council took the opportunity to mark this special occasion.
One tree has been planted at King George V Recreation Ground (Winkfield Row) with Winkfield Parish Council’s Chair, Cllr Dudley, in attendance.
The second tree now stands tall at Allsmoor Recreation Ground in Martins Heron. Both trees are accompanied by information plaques to commemorate this historic event and serve as lasting tributes.
Many councils and areas throughout the UK have chosen to commemorate the significant anniversary with events in the UK and in Normandy.
The 80th anniversary took place on June 5th and 6th 2024.
