Ascot Racecourse has topped UK attendance charts over the past decade, attracting 4.8 million visitors, according to a recent data survey.
This averages out to more than 580,000 racegoers annually, making it the most-visited racecourse in the UK over the last ten years.
According to research by OLBG, Ascot had the second-highest number of visitors per race day, at 19,777, coming only behind Cheltenham.
Cheltenham Racecourse claimed the second spot for overall attendance with 4 million visitors but had the highest average daily attendance of 27,192.
York Racecourse, steeped in history since 1731, came third, with 2.8 million visitors over the decade, averaging 16,110 per race day.
The data also revealed that between 2013 and 2024, Warwick Racecourse saw the highest increase in visitors, growing by nearly 50%.
In contrast, Kempton Park experienced the steepest decline, with an almost 49% drop in average attendance.
Ascot Racecourse was the most searched UK racecourse over the past year, with over 94,000 online searches.
Musselburgh Racecourse has grown in popularity the most, with searches increasing more than 3,400% since 2021.
The study also highlighted a preference for flat racing, with over 31 million attendees in the past decade, compared to just over 19.3 million for jump racing.
When looking at the number of abandonments, around 9% more jump races were abandoned compared to flat races.
The research conducted looked into various different aspects of racecourse popularity, including attendance, daily averages, and online searches.
