Police have been praised for showing they have been out and about patrolling across Bracknell with residents saying they "need" a visible presence in the community.

Thames Valley Police officers have been patrolling The Parks this week.

According to the most recent data on the Police.uk Crime Map, the Bracknell Central North area covering the Parks saw 272 reported crimes in August this year.

This is the highest number of reported crimes for the area for August in four years.

This included 76 violent offences, 58 instances of shoplifting, and 33 reports of anti-social behaviour. There has also been 25 public order offences.

The display of community engagement prompted a positive response from residents on social media.

One said: "Keep it going, be seen, make a positive impact on our streets, we need it."

"Nice to see you back out on streets as it should be," another resident commented on social media.

Another said: "Well done to you all, its this kind of activity that really helps…please keep up the momentum."

A YouGov poll carried out last year with 3,932 adults across the UK found that 56 percent never see foot patrols in their neighbourhood.

A total of 34 percent said they don't see patrols very often - while just two percent said they see them very often.

"Well done," one resident said of the Bracknell patrols. "Good to see you on the beat as it were. Public moan when your not on the street and moan when you are.

"Feel for you all."
