The MP for Bracknell has met with police to discuss crime on the roads - including e-scooter use - saying "there's more to be done" on the issue.

Peter Swallow, the Labour MP for the area, said the meeting with senior officers had been "productive."

He said: "(I've) had a productive meeting with Thames Valley Police this morning to discuss antisocial driving, road safety, and E-scooters."

Police seized 118 e-scooters and e-bikes across the Thames Valley area from June to October.

It is illegal to ride e-scooters in public places, including on the road, as they cannot be legally insured - and offenders risk a fine and points on their driving licence.

Mr Swallow also thanked residents for contacting him about these issues, adding: "There's more to be done, but I'll keep raising these important issues.

"Please remember to always report any issues on the road to make sure that the Police know what's going on and where."

According to the latest data on Police.uk Crime Map, there were 79 reports of crime in Bracknell town centre in August.

Earlier this year, around £100,000 was spent on a new team to crack down on e-scooters and cycling in The Lexicon, funded by a government grant.

Bracknell Forest Council announced in May that ‘town centre ambassadors’ had been employed by contractor NSL to stop anti-social behaviour and offer advice in The Lexicon.

Peter Swallow became the first Labour MP for Bracknell when he was elected to represent the area for the first time earlier this year.
