A Wokingham author has released the sixth book in her bestselling series.
Rachel Amphlett, who writes crime fiction, has published The Eleventh Grave in the Detective Mark Turpin series.
The murder mystery novel is said to have involved extensive research to ensure both entertainment and factual accuracy.
Ms Amphlett said: "It’s important that my readers get a sense of the real peril in these fictional investigations so I’m probably only including five per cent of the actual research within the story.
"But that’s one of the greatest benefits of being a writer – I’m always learning something new."
The author spent 13 years in Australia before returning to the UK, and she credits her interest in retaining local knowledge as key to crafting her detective stories.
She said: "I grew up in the Thames Valley area, so it was a logical choice to base the Mark Turpin series here.
"Although I often weave some fictional places into my stories, many of the locations will be familiar to readers."
The Eleventh Grave has been published in eBook, print, large print, and audiobook formats worldwide, and will also be available to order through local libraries.
Before embarking on her writing journey, Ms Amphlett played guitar in bands, worked as a TV and film extra, dabbled in radio, and worked in publishing as an editorial assistant.
She has now become a USA Today bestselling crime author with more than 30 crime novels and short stories.
These feature an array of characters including spies, detectives, vigilantes, and assassins.
Ms Amphlett is a keen traveller and holds both Australian and British citizenship.
The Detective Mark Turpin series has earned Ms Amphlett considerable praise.
Adrian McKinty described her work as: "Fast paced with vivid characterisation and clever twists.
"None the Wiser is another winner."
Jo Spain, author of With Our Blessing and The Confession, also praised her work, stating: "[None the Wiser] is a terrific start to a new series."
