One of Bracknell’s oldest and most popular pubs will be getting a revamp.
The Old Manor Wetherspoons in Grenville Place, Bracknell, will have external renovations and redecorations after approval was given by Bracknell Forest Council.
The historic pub dates back to the 15th century and remains one of the oldest surviving buildings in Bracknell.

Once two large Tudor houses, it is now home to a JD Wetherspoons and remains a popular destination close to Bracknell town centre.
The council has approved work to repair the outside of the listed building as well as the surrounding pavement.
The first floor, currently used as staff living accommodation, will be changed into a staff room. A redecoration of the outside of the building will also be completed.
It comes as part of wider transformations of the pub as plans to improve the indoor areas were also approved recently.
In July, Bracknell Forest Council approved plans to extend the ground floor bar, after removing the ale store and replacing it with a wash-up area.
In May last year, the pub needed ‘urgent repairs’ when a section of its ceiling collapsed. It since got approval to patch up the hole with lath and plaster.

All works permitted so far have been considered by Bracknell Forest Council as appropriate for the listed building status.
The Old Manor has retained many of its historic features, including a displayed food and drinks menu under older management.
There is also a ‘priest’s hole’, where Catholic priests would hide from persecution after their faith was outlawed.
