A new health and community centre has opened in Binfield to support the needs of its growing populations.
The Bracknell Forest Mayor and council executives opened the Binfield Health and Community Centre on Monday, October 21.
It is home to the Binfield GP surgery and spaces for community use managed by Binfield Parish Council.
The community centre includes a double height hall, meeting rooms, changing place facilities, a multi-use activity space and outdoor seating areas.
The GP surgery has already been operating from the new facility since August 2023.
It has custom-built facilities including GP consultation and examination rooms to provide primary care.
On Monday (October 21), the Mayor of the borough Councillor Jenny Penfold was joined by representatives from Binfield Parish Council, NHS Frimley Integrated Care Board and Binfield Surgery.
NHS Frimley’s director of places and communities Nicola Airey said that the centre ‘represents real progress in the way in which services are provided to the local community’.
Binfield Parish Council said it hopes that the facility will become a ‘vibrant and lively hub’ to offer activities for people of all ages.
It has free onsite parking including disabled spaces and EV charging points.
The community centre is already putting on activities including Pilates, dance fit, yoga, badminton and basketball.
It can also be used to hire for family events through the community church.
Councillor Iskandar Jefferies, cabinet member for leisure, culture, public protection and democracy, said that the initiative will ‘help bring the residents of Binfield together’.
The executive member said: “The facility supports recent planned development growth in this locality, providing new facilities to support our new and growing communities.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved for their continued hard work and dedication in providing such an important facility that will improve the lives of the local community now and in the future.”
It comes as similar plans for a community hub have been approved in Warfield.
£13 million is being invested in the scheme that will provide facilities for growing populations in the village.
Warfield will see some 2,000 homes built in coming years as part of Bracknell Forest Council's Strategic Warfield Development.
