A well-known sports shop will sadly close its doors this month after 35 years in business.

Located on Ascot High Street, Cliff Roe Sports was opened by Cliff and Edna Roe in 1989 providing the people of Ascot with a range of sports equipment and clothing.

After the couple retired in 2023, the popular shop was taken over by Anthony and Suzanne Everest.

On Monday, October 28, the shop announced on social media that it would be closing for good.

The owners have announced that Cliff Roe will close its doors for the final time in January 2025.

A host of customers and Ascot residents commented voicing their disappointment at the news.

One customer said: “Very sorry to hear you are closing, Cliff Roe Sports shop was the best sports shop. The High streets are changing and we have lost all the ‘proper’ shops. Cafes, Estate Agents and Betting shops don’t make a decent High Street.

“It’s a great shame and I wish all the staff good luck in whatever you do next. Amazon has a lot to answer for.”

Robbie Handley, who worked in the shop for six years, said that he had many fond memories during his time there.

The shop was supposedly a big supporter of Ascot United FC providing their kit and equipment back in the day.

From Tuesday 29th Oct, there will be closing down bargains available.
