Soft play sessions for children with special educational needs (SEN) will now be available at Bracknell Leisure Centre.
The centre underwent a £1.9 million renovation in May, which saw a new soft play created, and is now offering the sessions to any child with SEN up to the age of 12.
Clare Walsh, activity and wellbeing manager at Everyone Active, which manages the centre on behalf of Bracknell Forest Council, said: "Soft play environments can be highly beneficial for children with SEN for several reasons.
"These spaces are designed with safety, sensory exploration, and accessibility in mind, offering a range of developmental benefits."
The sessions are designed to aid physical development and coordination, which are key for developing motor skills.
The space is free from music and flashing lights, providing a safe setting for children to play.
The environment encourages children to interact with their peers, supporting the development of social skills and confidence.
The calm and controlled atmosphere is also designed to contribute positively to the emotional wellbeing of children, giving them the chance to explore and make choices independently.
Ms Walsh added: "Overall, soft play offers a fun, inclusive environment where SEN children can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially, meeting their unique developmental needs in a way that feels natural and engaging."
The sessions will run every Wednesday from 4.30pm to 6pm, and customers are encouraged to book via the Everyone Active app.
Mark Tennant, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: "We’re thrilled to be able to expand the offering of our recently renovated soft play area to benefit children of all ages and abilities, including those with SEN."
Councillor Iskandar Jefferies, Bracknell Forest Council's cabinet member for leisure, culture, public protection, and democracy, added: "All children deserve to feel happy and safe whilst playing, so we are really proud to support initiatives that make our facilities inclusive and accessible for all.
"These SEN sessions are a fantastic addition, providing a dedicated space where children with SEN can enjoy, explore, and develop in a safe and welcoming environment tailored to their needs."
The leisure centre's refurbishment began in January and delivered a new spa and spin studio, as well as the soft play area.
The spa went through a complete transformation, achieving a high-spec finish, and a wellness centre was also added to cater to diverse preferences and health goals.
Other improvements included the refurbishment of two squash courts and new party rooms with seating areas.
The centre made the decision to include party rooms to provide more versatile spaces for birthdays and other celebrations
