Shoppers have expressed their excitement following the news that a popular homeware store will be coming to Bracknell.
The Lexicon announced this week that Dunelm will be throwing its doors opening at Princess Square in Spring 2025.
Including 20 store employees, the opening will bring an additional 30 new jobs to the area.
According to many, the shop is expected to draw thousands of additional people to the town to visit the exciting new store.
Dunelm is expected to open in the former Boots unit in the once-thriving Princess Square shopping centre.
Despite thoughts that the addition will bring more footfall into the town centre, some people have raised concerns that the unit may not be the right place for the homeware giant.
One shopper, Janet Day said: “Brilliant news, although I worry that Princess Square isn't the right place for it. Hopefully, I'm wrong and it will increase footfall in there.”
One empty unit that has been suggested as an alternative location is the former ‘Plush’ furniture store on Braccan Walk.
Another shopper Liz Mac commented that it will be a ‘welcome addition for many’.
The Lexicon has welcomed many new shops and restaurants through its doors following the devastation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This includes restaurants including Five Guys, GDK, Giggling Squid, Zizzi’s and The Pinto Lounge.
The increase in restaurants and many high-end high street shops has caused some shoppers to appeal for more accessible shops catering all demographics.
It appears therefore that The Lexicon has delivered on its promise to create more variety for people visiting the town.
William Charles Bishop added: “Something that isn't a coffee shop or an overpriced clothes shop? Halle-bloomin-lujah!”
With excitement in the air for the opening of Dunelm and the imminent opening of the American fast food restaurant Popeye’s, many people have their eye on the horizon. What is going to fill up those last few empty units within The Lexicon?
One ecstatic resident said: "We just need a Zara now! And my life will be complete.”
The arrival of Zara is something that has been on everyone’s minds since the opening of the Lexicon in 2017.
So…could it be the next addition?! We shall see.
