A former Thames Valley Police detective will face a misconduct hearing over allegations of sexual harassment of women in the workplace.

Various allegations have been made which left women he worked with feeling ‘objectified and intimated’ while based at the Thames Valley Police Headquarters.

Former detective superintendent Mark Spencer is accused of breaching multiple standards of professional behaviour which amounts to gross misconduct.

He allegedly engaged in ‘inappropriate behaviour in the workplace’ towards women despite receiving warnings on how he was acting.

Mr Spencer also allegedly ‘stared inappropriately’ at women inside and outside of the workplace and had inappropriate and suggestive conversations with junior members of staff.

The former detective is accused of pursuing ‘a course of conduct of sexual harassment towards women’ including staring at their breasts and legs, invading their personal space and touching them.

This made them feel ‘objectified and intimidated’, a notice of the misconduct hearing says.
