Thames Valley Police have issued a statement following the recent spate of burglaries in Ascot.

A spokesperson has come forward to warn the public that burglaries in the area have increased.

Windsor and Maidenhead officers are carrying out patrols during the affected times in order to deter any burglaries from occurring.

Your local neighbourhood team is also carrying out reassurance patrols also, so please feel free to approach them and talk to them about any issues you have.

Following this, the police have also put out some safety advice in order to protect your homes.

1) Make sure you keep your doors locked at all times. Use the chain on the door also when locking the door.

2) Don't leave your keys hanging in the door or close to the door. Someone could reach in and grab them.

3) Keep your windows shut and locked when you leave the house.

4) If you have an alarm make sure you activate it when you leave and when you go to bed. 

5) Install a floodlight on the front and back of your house. This will activate the light when there is movement.

6) Close blinds/ curtains when you leave the house. This will stop anyone being able to see your valuables/ personal belongings. 

7) If you can install CCTV cameras and signage as a deterrent.
