Locals to Berkshire have been voting for the poshest places in the county, with many towns and villages accumulating multiple votes.

On a callout to Facebook, numerous people offered their suggestions for swanky places, with many agreeing that Windsor is definitely a top pick.

Speaking about the concept of poshness in general and offering up his ideas as to where nabs the 'poshest' title in Berkshire, one user wrote the following.

They said "The word posh was first used by wealthy sea travelers.

"It stands for portside out, starboard home, where travellers get the best views whilst travelling transatlantic.

"Travelling posh was a sign of wealth. Windsor in Berks is officially the town in the UK with the most millionaires, even excluding property so possibly it’s the ‘poshest’."

With its castle, huge range of fancy shops and eateries, and not to mention its close connection with the royals, Windsor is definitely up there with one of the poshest places in Berkshire.

Those local to Reading also gave some suggestions of parts of the town that are posher. Two common suggestions were The Warren and Caversham.

The Warren is an obvious choice here as it is home to some of the most expensive houses in the town, with many selling for several million pounds.

All the houses face onto the River Thames, making it an ideal spot for those who are into sailing.

One person said "Caversham was nice but traffic was a nightmare. Moved to Kent coast thank goodness!"

Caversham is also a particularly posh part of Reading with its whole host of independent shops, food places, and frequent events.
