Bracknell Foodbank has announced the receipt of an impressive number of advent calendar donations this year.

The Lexicon shopping centre revealed that a record-breaking 693 calendars were generously donated, marking a remarkable 140 per cent increase from the previous year.

For the last six weeks, community members, retailers, and restaurants within The Lexicon have been contributing to this festive cause by placing calendars in The Lexicon Giving Box, located in Princess Square.

Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon, expressed her delight at the community's generosity, stating: "I am thrilled that we can do a bit to brighten-up Christmas this year for so many local families.

"A huge thank you to everyone who donated; it will make a real difference to so many."

In addition to the advent calendars, Bracknell Foodbank also received 30 family tickets for Santa’s Grotto from The Lexicon.

The interim manager of Bracknell Foodbank, Liz Fourie, added: "We never ask for treats as donations as we need to focus on essential items to support local families.

"So, we’re really looking forward to surprising hundreds of families this Christmas with an extra special treat."

The Bracknell Foodbank is a charity organisation that provides food and other essential items to individuals and families in crisis.
