Popular seasonal luminations will sparkle over Farleymoor Lake again this winter, all thanks to Bracknell Business Improvement District (BID).

Visitors to the area will be greeted by a stunning display, as the lights were switched on once again for the winter months by Bracknell BID.

Thirteen trees are wrapped in LED string lighting, funded by the BID, with the aim of making the area warm and bright as well as increasing the feeling of personal safety along a footpath which was poorly lit with trees along the side of the lake.

Sean Griffin, Bracknell BID Manager, said: "Following the success and positive feedback of this project last year, the lights have now been switched on at Farleymoor Lake.

These seasonal lights bring some festive cheer as well as brightening up this stretch of footpath at a time when the long dark winter nights are with us.

These works are part of the BID’s aim to improve lighting on footpaths and cycleways, especially at places of more frequent activity to pedestrians.”

Building on last year’s display, the lights will again remain in place until March 2025, ensuring the area stays bright throughout the winter season and well into the New Year.

David English, Health & Safety consultant, Panasonic and BID board director said: “We’re glad to see the area shining brightly again.

The lights make such a difference and are a reminder of the power of this business community and what we can achieve together, with the support of a Business Improvement District."

BIDs are an investment in the local trading environment through the provision of added value services and they are funded by local businesses through a regulated levy - therefore all beneficiaries pay.

Writing online, they stated they 'see improvements to business profitability and turnover which would not have happened without a BID'.

They add: "Businesses identify the area and the issues and put together a proposal which should include delivery guarantees, performance indicators and management structure.

"The plan voted for has a lifespan of 5 years and further proposals will have to be reaffirmed through a further vote.

"There are now over 310 BIDs across the country.

"There are two criteria which must be achieved for the vote to be successful: more than 50 per cent of the number of businesses who vote have to say yes and more than 50 per cent of the rateable value of the businesses who vote have to say yes"
