Two new stores could be coming to the Lexicon as plans to split the former Coffee Barker unit have emerged.

A planning application to create two separate units at 23-25 The Avenue in The Lexicon, Bracknell, has been put forward by the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership.

The unit has sat empty for months following the closure of Coffee Barker in June.

Plans submitted show the partnership would like to make alterations to the outside of the unit, as well as create new entrances to the separate stores.

There is no indication of which brands or businesses could be coming to the unit.

Coffee Barker closed this year after opening in 2017, the same year of the opening of the Lexicon.

Management of the business said that it had been difficult to attract customers when competing with other national chains in the Lexicon.

They also complained of eye-watering business rates and rents at the shopping centre.

The Lexicon was opened in 2017 as a key part of Bracknell Forest Council’s regeneration of the town centre.

It has since become a shopping destination in Berkshire alongside the Oracle in Reading.

The Lexicon has said it will be announcing multiple new shops opening at the centre in coming months.

Levi’s has opened recently, and a Tesco Express will be opening this week. Other stores including Dunelm and Popeyes will be opening soon.

The application has been validated by Bracknell Forest Council and a decision is yet to be made.
