A community has been left speechless after reports that a young boy passed away from serious injuries sustained in a Bracknell flat.

Officers were called to a property in Priestwood Square, Bracknell, on Wednesday morning (November 21) by South Central Ambulance Service, who had responded to a report that a young boy had sustained serious injuries at the address.

The boy was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where, tragically, he died on Friday morning.

Neighbours have described the scene as ‘chaos’ as Thames Valley Police, South Central Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance descended on the small Bracknell Forest square.

One neighbour said: “It’s absolutely stomach-turning to think that it happened just outside my house. I was on a walk at the time and when I was coming back there was a giant rush of activity when police started cordoning off the nearby roads.

“It’s so tragic but nobody really knows what has happened.

“I am happy about how quick the emergency services and police were to respond though. There have been multiple police officers at the scene since the morning it happened and they’ve only recently covered the windows so nobody can see inside whilst they investigate.”

A shopkeeper, who was working at the time told the News that although no-one saw much, it was clear that something was going wrong.

He said: “It’s so terrible. This is such a tight-knit community so it isn’t often that something happens and we know nothing but it’s a mystery.

“Since the incident there has been three police officers there at all times and it seems to have happened in the second floor flats above Kams fish and chips shop.”

The News visited the scene of the incident where Crime Scene Investigators for Thames Valley Police were stationed within the building.

Following an initial investigation, Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit has now launched a murder inquiry.

A 25-year-old man from the town was arrested on suspicion of murder on Thursday, November 22.

He has since been released on conditional police bail pending further inquiries.

Thames Valley Police have said that a scene-watch is in place at the address and is likely to be present for some time while the investigation continues.
