Thames Hospice has announced the return of its festive Santa Dash fundraiser.

The popular event is set to take place in Swinley Forest, Bracknell, on Sunday, December 8, promising a merry gathering of community members dressed in Santa suits.

Starting at 10am, the dash offers participants the choice of a 2km, 5km, or 10km route, welcoming individuals of all ages and abilities, as well as dogs.

The event, which aims to raise significant funds for the hospice, is sponsored by Bridges Bracknell Forest, who will also be participating.

Emma Andrews, events fundraiser, said: "The Santa Dash is one of our favourite events of the year as we approach the festive season and get together with many people from our community.

"We can’t wait to see you there!"

James Macphee from Bridges Bracknell Forest added: "We are delighted to support Thames Hospice and its invaluable work in our community.

"We can’t wait to join the festive fun at the Santa Dash and cheer on all the dashing Santas!"

The charity is urging everyone to take part, emphasising the difference each pound raised can make in supporting patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses this Christmas and beyond.

For those interested in taking part, fundraising entry costs £20, with a minimum fundraising target of £50.

General entry is priced at £40, while children aged 14 and under can participate for £10.

Children under two can join for free.

Family packages are also available, with a fundraising entry costing £45 and a general entry priced at £65, both with a minimum fundraising target of £50.

All proceeds from the event will directly support Thames Hospice in its mission to provide specialist palliative and end-of-life care.

The hospice, which has been operating since 1987, supports the East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire community, offering essential services to those aged 16 and over with life-limiting conditions.

Last year alone, the hospice, with the help of over 940 volunteers, provided care to 2,938 people.

Thames Hospice's services are free of charge, made possible through charitable support from the community it serves.

With the NHS and other statutory bodies contributing 35 per cent towards operating costs, the hospice requires £34,000 each day to fund its services and support those in need.

The Santa Dash is a key fundraising event for the hospice, helping it to continue offering its vital services.
