BRACKNELL RFC slipped to a 35-21 reverse at Ivybridge in the South West Premier on Saturday.
The home side dominated the early exchanges and went in front when back row George Wilson crossed, Billy Pinkus converting to make it 7-0.
Prop Jon Morgan grabbed a second for the hosts, Pinkus again converting, before the wing then crossed for a try of his own to extend the lead to 19-0 inside 15 minutes.
Ivybridge secured their bonus-point from a rolling maul off an attacking line-out, driving all the way to the line before hooker Jay Geraty touched down.
Yet with a hiding on the cards, Bracknell finally got going.
A charged-down kick was gathered by Ian Burch, and some quick hands found Cam McDonald to score. The conversion from Vic Hardwicke was successful to cut the gap to 24-7.
After Pinkus grabbed a second try, Sam Gibbons went over for Bracknell, with the visitors grabbing a third try just before the break when Elliott Bellman crossed. With Hardwicke adding the extras, the half-time score was 29-21 to Ivybridge.
After an exhilarating first 40 minutes, the second period proved something of a damp squib, a brace of Pinkus penalties the only points added as the home side secured the victory.
Bracknell host Berkshire rivals Maidenhead on Saturday (2.15pm).
