PATRICK Bancroft beat a field of 80 to win the Tupling Tankard, an 18-hole flag competition, at East Berkshire.
The winner was determined by the player who proceeded furthest around the course playing extra holes should they have any shots left after their 18 holes.
Bancroft, a 12-handicap golfer, completed his round with a nett 61, having had nine shots left with his final one finishing just off the fairway on the 21st hole.
Runner-up was Neil Jopling (4hcp) who finished 9.45 metres away from 20th hole, while Patrick Lawton (9hcp) was 11.85 metres from the hole.
East Berkshire's annual Mixed Open competition was won by Amanda Cooper and Terry Hale from Marlborough GC with 42 points on a countback.
Second place went to Elizabeth and Richard Higgins from Stockbrook Manor (Essex) with Lesley Donegan and Paul Temple from Weybrook Park (Hampshire) third with 39 points.
l EAST Berkshire are to hold an Open Day on Saturday, September 14.
From noon, those attending will have the chance to play a few holes, meet some members and discuss membership at the club.
Experienced players are also invited to sample one of the best courses in Berkshire.
