SOUTH Berkshire men remain joint top of MBBO Regional Two, but they were given a real scare before ultimately securing a 3-2 victory at basement side Wycombe 2nds, writes Richard Ashton.
Sam Fox-Harvey, Tom King and Ravi Patel were the visitors goalscorers, with George Farthing and Matthew Yates netting for Wycombe.
South Berkshire face their toughest test of the season to date when table-toppers Sonning visit Cantley Park on Saturday (10.30am).
Division Two leaders South Berkshire 2nds put Ashford 2nds to the sword with a 6-1 thumping.
Paul Kaplanski struck a hat-trick and Mike Baylis, Oliver Bruce and Daniel Ray were also on the scoresheet as the hosts eased to victory, Shane Smith grabbing Ashford's consolation.
In Division Three, a Duncan Clarke double and a Benjamin Cary strike inspired South Berkshire 3rds to a 3-0 victory at Henley 3rds.
South Berkshire 4ths were edged out 2-1 at home by Reading Rascals in Division Seven, while in Division Eight West, South Berkshire Terriers went down 4-3 at second-placed Oxford 8ths.
South Berkshire ladies picked up just a second Trysports Three Counties League Premier Division One win of the season by overcoming Newbury & Thatcham 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller.
The result lifts them to eighth place in the table ahead of a trip to Aylesbury this coming Saturday (11.30am).
In Premier Division Two, South Berkshire 2nds lost 3-0 at home to Oxford 3rds, while South Berkshire 3rds were also beaten, 3-2 by Wallingford 3rds in Division Three.
Caroline Apsey and Lyndall Davitt netted for the hosts, but goals from Jo Porter, Jenny Capon and Natalie Wood ensured Wallingford took all three points.
South Berkshire 4ths' tough season continued as they were thumped 5-1 by Wallingford 4ths in Division Five.
Among the visitors goalscorers were Courteney Eatwell, Charlotte Tyler and Kerry Whitfield.
