TOM Nicholls is the latest recipient to receive a scholarship as part of the Sand Martins Golf Club Feel Inspired Academy Satellite Club for Children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The 14-year-old with Downs Syndrome is a pupil at Addington School in Woodley, where he lives.
At the Wokingham club's academy, he has grown in stature and confidence by learning to play golf under the guidance of Sand Martins professional Symon O'Keefe, Academy Satelite Club manager Alan Leason and other coaches.
It was Symon and Alan who recommended Tom for the scholarship, which was approved by the club's general manager, Matt Short.
Tom attends the academy each week with his parents.
At Addington, he takes part in several other sporting activities, including tag rugby, swimming, football and orienteering.
A keen supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, he has represented his school in the national panathlon games, swimming at the Olympic swimming pool in London.
