Well into the summer holidays, there still remain a lot of family activities being run by both the borough and parish councils, a lot of them free of charge.

The Summer of Fun days run by our Parish and Town Councils so far have been well attended despite the variable weather – indeed despite the horizontal rain.

The remaining summer of fun events are at Farley Wood Community Centre in Binfield on Thursday, 24 August and Braybrooke Recreation Ground in Priestwood on Wednesday, 30 August. Both events run from 11am until 3pm. Although activities are free, there will be some food vendors charging.

You can find out more about summer holidays and support on Bracknell Forest Council’s website.

Summer in Bracknell Forest often means a big event at The Lexicon. Earlier this year, we saw the very first Bracknell Forest Pride and the returning Bracknell Forest Community Day.

We also had the cost of living crisis event in Princess Square. This too was a huge success. It’s fair to say that the relationship between the council and The Lexicon is stronger than ever.

This summer, South Hill Park Arts Centre celebrates its 50th anniversary. To recognise the 50 years of this fabulous centre, we have all teamed up to bring the first ever two-site promenade performance to Bracknell Forest, inspired by the enduring classic, The Wizard of Oz.

Starting at South Hill Park and finishing at The Lexicon, the audience will move through several locations, for the Follow the Yellow Brick Road performance, combining storytelling, participatory theatre and visual arts.

There will be activities for children of all ages, so you can find out more, and book ahead, on The Lexicon's website. What better way to spend the summer than following the yellow brick road?
